allie del says: Some kids tattoo their faces because it makes them legally unemployable in some states, allowing them to collect welfare/unemployment automatically. But this is the most dramatic facial tattoo on a street kid I've seen. This is a beatiful shot and creates many questions, as so many of your photos do. Mike Back says: I know this guy! - we learned how to unicycle in front of someone's house in Flagstaff,, AZ years ago! I'm not kidding. Some guy named Jay-Mo that always had lots of people over and lived by the liquor store (Jalisco's, now called O'Leary Street Market), he was teaching like 5 of us how to ride his unicycle.. He was really nice, i gave out my 12 pack of PBR and so he got me all sloshed off his bottle of Black Velvet. He isn't happy because according to Justin, he was given one buck for this photo that is presently selling for 800, he certainly wasn't given anything like 50% of $800, not in cash nor gift cards or services not even warm clothes/food/sleeping bag, nothing at all to help him climb his own ladder that was referenced so eloquently in the opening statement of this website I understand artists and and how they produce their work, and that you are selling your work, not my friend - but I do think more generosity could be shown Justin, who spent last night cold in the rain on the Haight while others were enjoying their $800 framed version of him in their warm home. -- 08:00PM, November 21, 2010.
